SAFETY
ARRIVAL and PICK-UP
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Our goal is to create and maintain an environment that is safe, drug-free and conductive to learning. In order to meet this goal, we take several precautions to ensure our children’s safety. We ensure that we maintain proper staffing ratios to make sure that the children are always under supervision. Most of the staff is CPR and First Aid Certified. We also have an Emergency Response Plan. As part of this plan, we conduct a fire drill every month. We also have first aid kits throughout the center for easy access.
PARKING
Parking spaces are provided with easy and safe access to the building for your child. We ask that you enter and exit through the front office. We ask that you escort your child to and from the parking lot to ensure their safety. For safety reasons, turn off your car when you are not in it. Please consider bus safety when dropping off and picking up your child, several busses come to our front door.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
All children must enter the center in the office with their parents or guardian and signed in. Anyone allowed to pick-up or drop-off the child must be listed on the pick-up permission form or be approved in writing by the parent. In an emergency, parents may call the center and give verbal approval of an alternate individual.
LATE PICK-UP
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
If your child is picked up after 5:30 p.m., you will be charged a late fee of $5.00 for each five minutes that you are late.
ATTIRE
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Think of your child’s comfort. Dress your child in simple clothing free of complicated fastenings. Choose shoes that will be comfortable to walk, run, and climb in. Remember that our play yard has pea gravel that gets into shoes easily. Closed toed shoes work best. Think of arts and crafts, playgrounds, and changing weather when you dress your child for daycare. An entire set of clothes is to be kept at daycare including socks and shoes. A sweater or sweatshirt in the spring and fall is recommended.
ITEMS FROM HOME
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Children are welcome to bring toys from home to Daycare. They enjoy showing their belongings to their friends, and it also teaches responsibility. The children must be responsible for their own toys; they are expected to keep track of them and to play with them appropriately so they do not get broken. Absolutely no violent toys or weapon toys are permitted at Daycare. The toys that are brought should not be so special that they cannot be shared. There should be no small pieces that would easily get lost or choke a younger child.
SNOW DAYS/POWER OUTAGEs
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Dameron Daycare will make every effort to open during inclement weather. If there is a power outage, we will have to close. Daycare closings due to weather will be announced on the this website as quick as possibe. I will also attempt to contact all of the parents as soon as a decision to close is made. If you are not sure of the Daycare status, you may call at 301-862-2011.

REMOVING YOUR CHILD FROM OUR PROGRAM
///////////////////////////////////////////////////
A two week notice is requested when removing your child from Dameron Daycare program. They must go through the entire enrollment process again to return to our program.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
We use a problem solving policy to help children resolve differences and to rectify inappropriate behavior. We talk to the children about undesired behavior and ask them to talk to each other to say what they want, like, or how they want games to be played. If discussions do not work, we will sometimes resort to redirecting or time apart from the situation. If problems persist, we will ask parents for help. The Daycare staff and parents need to be partners to ensure the best possible environment for all children at Daycare.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS/TELEPHONE
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
It is extremely important that addresses and phone numbers of parents and emergency contacts be updated every time a change takes place. Please note change and give it to a staff person so we can update the information or give you forms to update if there are multiple changes.
SICK CHILD POLICY
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
You child’s health and safety is of major importance to all of us. Limiting the spread of disease is just as important. To do this, we have a specific policy for all parents to follow:
Keep your child home if he or she….
-
Has a fever of 100 degrees or has had one during the previous 24 hours
-
Has symptoms of a possible communicable disease or unknown diagnosis on part of the parent or teacher
-
Is diagnosed with an illness keep home until they have been on medication for 24-48 hours
-
Has had diarrhea or been vomiting in the previous 24 hours
MEDICATIONS
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A medication form is required before any medications can be administered at Daycare. The Daycare has medication forms available upon request. Over-the-counter medicines can be administered only once, after that a doctor’s order is needed. Prescribed medicines must be in the original labeled prescription bottle. The label must have the child’s name and the dosage to be administered. Parents must administer the first dose of any medication.
ANNUAL RENEWAL
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
We ask parents to refresh or renew all paperwork every year; we ask that all forms be updated by January 31 each year. If Dameron Daycare receives a violation for incomplete paperwork due to your failure to complete and submit, you will be fined a $50.00 administration fee.
ANIMALS AT DAYCARE
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Our children are enjoying classroom pets as well as creatures from Mother Nature. Caring for animals enhances the following skills: responsibity, self esteem, empathy, patience, kindness, and communication. Everyone is welcome to take a few minutes to say hello to our animal friends.
